What is Gelatin?
Gelatin is a nearly flavorless protein derived from cooking collagen. My Gelatin comes from pasture raised cows that are grass-fed, and never given GMO-feed or antibiotics.
How do I make a “Gelatin Egg”?
This recipe makes 1 “egg”. Ingredients:
1 Tbsp. grass-fed /pastured gelatin
1 Tbsp. lukewarm water
2 Tbsp. hot water
Instructions:
Mix the gelatin and 1 Tbsp. of lukewarm water together until the gelatin is wet. It will be a bit fluffy looking.
Pour 2 Tbsp. of hot water over the mixture and whisk vigorously. You will see the gelatin start to dissolve and it will turn into a thick, sticky paste.
Let the gelatin “egg” sit for 2-3 minutes and then add to whatever you are making. Stir in until well combined and proceed as normal with the recipe.
NOTE: Gelatin “eggs” will work well in recipes where 1-3 eggs are required. In recipes calling for more than 3 eggs, you may start running into issues. There are some things that real eggs provide to a recipe that simply cannot be replaced by flax, chia, or gelatin eggs. You can definitely experiment, but I cannot guarantee recipes with 4+ eggs will turn out properly with the gelatin egg.
What time of day should I take the Gelatin?
Gelatin can be taken any time, day or night. I like to mix a scoop or two into my morning smoothie or add it to my hot tea before bed. It really helps support restful sleep!
How long should I take Gelatin?
Gelatin can be used indefinitely for best results. Many of my patients use Gelatin every day and have done so for years!
Is it safe for my child to take Gelatin?
Gelatin is safe for most kids, so long as they do not have a legitimate beef allergy. Gelatin contains amino acids that can help kids grow healthy bones and teeth! We always recommend speaking with your pediatrician before starting any new supplements.
Is Gelatin okay to take while pregnant or nursing?
Yes. Provided you are not allergic to Gelatin from beef, on any prescribed medications that could be contraindicated, or have been advised by your physician not to take collagen for any reason, then The Myers Way® Gelatin is safe to use in doses recommended on the product label. If you have any concerns whatsoever, I always recommend speaking with your physician or other qualified healthcare provider.
Is Gelatin damaged by heat?
All proteins are damaged by high heat to some extent. Proteins are long chains of amino acids bound together. High heat can potentially fold and warp these amino acid chains into new shapes and structures called amines that may be unusable by the body, or even harmful. This is why you should avoid charring or overcooking meat. The proteins and peptides in my Gelatin are already hydrolyzed, so adding it to a hot cup of tea or coffee, or baking it at low temps (below 400 degrees) will not denature it too much, if at all.

It is a diverse combination of essential and nonessential amino acids, as well as branched chain amino acids, similar to what you would find in a high quality steak. Conversely, my Collagen Protein is a very special type of protein sourced from the hides of grass fed, pasture roaming cows raised with care in Brazil. Collagen Protein is a special blend of primarily four amino acids that are actually quite lacking in the standard western diet. These amino acids support your own body’s ability to synthesize collagen, which is your body’s primary structural protein. Collagen is essential for a healthy gut lining, strong hair, skin, and nails, connective tissue, and much much more.
