I have always wanted to share this with you. Thank you for the opportunity.
In Fall 2015, I attended a silent retreat. The day we were allowed to talk, I was conversing with someone who had Hashimoto. Since I had Hashimotos, and 1/2 my thyroid removed, it was a good conversation. Until she told me she heard that it can actually be cured. Naturally, she told me about a doctor in Austin, TX who claimed to cure it. I overreacted (inside) It hit me like a ton of bricks. I have been suffering with this disease for 30 years and someone says it is "curable." I did not show it, but I was upset, angry, hostile, "who is this person who says it can be cured." It was shocking to me, how emotional I had become over the idea that there was another possible path. I did nothing.
I was still struggling. In spring of 2016 I had surgery for PCOS, and the other half of my thyroid removed. Still suffering with autoimmune symptoms, I had stopped eating gluten. Then I went to Israel, ate a ton of pita (with gluten) and my symptoms intensified, especially the emotional component. I was a community college professor. This caused me to retire early. Fall of 2016 was the last semester that I taught.
In January 2017 I got your thyroid book. I did all the quizzes. I was shocked at how many of the questions applied to me.So I did the diet, I ordered the supplements. I got better. I did the DNA testing. Yup, MTHFR double heterozygous. It was life changing.
Thank you, Dr. Myers.
P.S. I am now dealing with how many people do not believe me, do not take food seriously, do not…
